What does Jayride mean?
The name Jayride comes from Joyride and Jaywalk: It means a different, more social way to travel. More, Jayride means simple, cheap transport for everyone.
How much does Jayride cost?
Jayride is completely free to use. We put you in touch with every transport option free of charge. You can also list your own carpool / rideshare transport for free. Transport listed on Jayride may cost money to book, but that is up to the person or company providing the transport.
How do I make money from Jayride?
Carpool your one-off ride or regular commute on Jayride. Specify how much money you want towards petrol and expenses. When someone wants to share a ride, you can collect the money from them. Jayride doesn’t take a cut; you keep it all. If you’re going somewhere, why not do it at a profit?
How does Jayride help the environment?
Jayride helps you to help the environment. Every time you rideshare, or use any Jayride listed transport, it means one less car on the road. Less cars on the road mean less carbon emissions, which is good for you, and good for the planet.
Do I have to register to use Jayride?
Yes. Registering is free, quick and simple. Plus, registering your details with us helps to keep you safe. We respect your privacy, don’t spam, and will never commercially redistribute any information you give us.
How safe is Jayride?
Jayride is much safer than hitch hiking. Our system allows you to review the details of any member who has posted a ride, so you can read about them and speak to them before ever meeting. However, please use common sense; Jayride is not directly responsible for any of the individuals who share a ride on our site. If you have any concerns about anyone on our site, please let us know .

Jayride is designed and run by the same people who brought you Hitch.net.nz. Hitch.net.nz was a carpool website launched in January 2007 that quickly became New Zealand’s biggest and most popular transport-sharing website. By the end of 2008 we had learnt a lot about you and decided to improve our service: We rewrote everything from the ground up, and renamed our site Jayride.
